01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
One glance at the paper menu slips and chalkboard specials reveals an impressive dedication to seafood. Situated in Terado-cho, Muko, Konchan is a sushi restaurant where diners can enjoy fresh catches and diverse seasonal dishes in a relaxed setting. The sashimi selection is particularly generous, frequently featuring domestic coastal bluefin tuna, wild flounder, yokowa (young bluefin tuna), and live octopus.
A popular order before moving on to sushi is the simmered conger eel tempura. The kitchen also prepares enticing bar bites such as tempura or grilled Shimonita leeks and Manganji peppers, as well as house-cured miso-marinated grilled fish, well-matched with Kiku-Masamune sake, shochu, or beer. Small hot pots are another highlight; seasonal offerings can include hamo (pike conger) shabu-shabu or suppon (softshell turtle) marunabe. Fugu hot pot (tecchiri) and rice porridge are also served, with some visitors noting they enjoyed these hot pots sized for solo dining.
To round out the meal, guests can choose from thin rolls and nigiri sushi crafted with modest portions of seasoned rice. Offerings range from conger eel, Shinshu salmon, and kuruma prawn nigiri to thin rolls like torotaku (fatty tuna and pickled radish), unakyu (eel and cucumber), and wasabi-spiced namidamaki. The restaurant operates for evening dinner service, and reservations are accepted.
